Overall Personality
Lance is attractive, from a solid family, plays guitar and quidditch, is a social butterfly and a hopeless romantic. All the makings of becoming someone pretty well known in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but for three things. 1. He's a Hufflepuff. 2. He's Gay. 3. His father worked at the school.
He does not appreciate people who call Hufflepuffs the "default house" or Pufflehuffs or really any negative. He is nonjudgemental, hardworking and loyal. All of the things that make up the great house. He is a pretty laid back guy, and almost always has a smile on his face.
For a Hufflepuff, however, he has a pretty short temper. He is definitely no pushover. He is quick to defend his family, friends, and house, not to mention himself. He's singlehandedly got more detentions than the entire sixth yera Hufflepuff house combined. It didn't help that his dad kept his eye on him.

History: Lance has always looked up to his brother, not to mention his parents. His mother was a pleasant woman, fulled with love and mirth and he bonded closely with the woman. His father was always this enigma, the boy who killed the snake with the sword. Needless to say he knew his father was a total badass, at least by his last few years of his schooling.
He connected more closely with his brother. He followed him around like a shadow pretty much as long as he knew how to walk. There was a very healthy amount on sibling rivalry and rough housing was to be expected.
He was a very curious child. He always wanted to know what everyone was doing and why. His mother had been sure he would have been sorted into Ravenclaw, but he wasn't. He continues to he highly inquisitive, but his Hufflepuff traits are much more pronounced.
When his brother went to Hogwarts, he floundered for a bit. He wasn't sure what to do without the boy around, but he wrote his brother often, asking about school and telling him about his day.
He was a little depressed when his brother was gone, and that was about when he got his first guitar. He had been shopping in muggle london when he saw it. It wasn't anything special, it was being sold used. He became fascinated with it. He wasn't exactly sure when his mom talked to his dad, but Neville gave the woman the OK to buy him the guitar. He mostly self-taught, and practiced until his fingers bled, but he steadily got better and better.
Despite his mother's protests, they could not part the boy with his instrument the following year when going to Hogwarts. He was excited but he got attatched to the instrument. He would often be seen practicing in the courtyard or the common room. As he got better, more and more people started to notice him.
Then he was a fourth year, and he started wanting to have a relationship with someone. He had come to terms with the fact that he was not attracted to girls a while before, but it hadn't really been an issue until a pretty ravenclaw girl tried to kiss him that year. He hadn't meant to freak out like he did, but he shoved her a little too harshly and he ran into the castle.
Obviously, the news flooded through the castle, and he had already been getting enough gay jokes as it were because of his name. It was a Slytherin boy that really made him snap. It was the same day, and he had been trying to think up something to tell his father and brother. He wanted to come out to them, and his mum, before he did the rest of the school. It was only fair to them, after all.
The Slytherin would not leave him alone, and he nearly punched the kid, instead, he shrugged it off for once in his life. "So what? I'm gay, is that really such a big deal?" and he was surprised that pretty much the entire common room went silent. He got picked on some more, but the people he cared about were OK with it as far as he knew.
He, of course, talked about it with his parents, and brother, later on. They accepted him, and he was glad. He had heard horror stories about kids being disowned for being gay. He hadn't ecpected it out of his family, but it was still a small fear in the back of his mind.
